Our Office Helps Others in the OC...

Three of our office staff (Chris, Sandi and Maria) took time from their own lives and went to Southern California to serve others.   The event was a joint project between the Illumination Foundation and Optometry Giving Sight.   The goal was to identify and help - through providing basic health care services - those impacted by homelessness.   Sandi and Chris reported about 400 patients going through their station alone on their way to see one of the volunteer optometrists.

What made this exceptionally terrific is that these Fig Garden Optometry team members went "on their own" - this was not a particular project any of our doctors were able to participate in.   They did see many familiar faces from the Vision Source family, however!

Thanks to our staff and the dozens of other volunteers and the great work they did!

Good-Bye to Margaret

After 30+ years serving our fine patients, Margaret Hall has retired from Fig Garden Optometry.
She and her husband Jim look forward to some travel (their son lives in Missouri) and more time to relax!
Thank you Margaret for all your great service over the years!  It is rewarding to thing about how many people were comfortable in their glasses and contact lenses because of your expertise!

The Place is Almost Done!

After much planning and TONS of decisions to make, our office remodel is coming together/finishing up nicely!   Here are some photos!

After months of preparation and hours of professional consultation and weeks of hard work, the "new look" of Fig Garden Optometry us ready to launch. While there are still some final items coming in, we will be ready for patients again on Tuesday!

Fig Garden Optometry Honored Nationwide!

PHILANTHROPIST OF THE YEAR; PRACTICE OF THE YEAR ANNOUNCED BY OPTOMETRY GIVING SIGHT

Golden, CO. (April 28, 2012). Optometry Giving Sight has named Dr. Mario Gutierrez from San Antonio, Texas as its Vision Source Philanthropist of the Year, and Cole, Krohn and Jensen from Fresno, California as its Vision Source Practice of the Year. The announcement was made at the Vision Source North American Meeting in Orlando on Friday. 

The criteria for both awards includes recognizing an individual and practice that demonstrate a tremendous passion for the elimination of refractive error blindness and low vision through their own personal giving; practice fundraising and advocacy among their peers.

“With so many wonderful supporters it was hard for Optometry Giving Sight to highlight just two winners,” said the organization’s Chair, Dr. Mary Anne Murphy. “Dr. Gutierrez is a Chairman’s Club member, active Ambassador and is currently initiating a hands-on service delivery program in the San Antonio area.

“Cole, Krohn and Jensen has achieved great success in introducing the Seeing Eye to Eye (SETE) Program into their own practice, and encouraging their colleagues to do likewise. The SETE ‘buy one-give one’ program generates a large donation each quarter as the practice donates $5 for every frame sold”.

New Name, New Logo---
Many of you are already aware that we are phasing out the "Cole, Cole & Krohn" name and logo in favor of "Fig Garden Optometry."   Here is one more look at the old, and a look at the new!

Christmas "Fig Garden Optometry" Style!
For our office Christmas "Get Together" this year, our office staff suggested we forego the "draw a name out of the hat" game and instead put all our money together and then find a family to help.   With the help of the Evangel Home in downtown Fresno, we did just that!  After lunch, our office went to a local department store and purchased gifts and necessity for a mother and her 4 children who needed a little boost!   What a great idea!

Cooperating with another Vision Source! office:
While in Los Angeles for our Field Trip, we met up with Dr. Randall Yumori and Dr. Don Matsumoto and their great office staff for some activities surrounding product presentation (at the mall) and some roundtable discussion on how to make our office a notch higher in excellent presentation and service!

Office Field Trip!
It happened some time ago - back in November - but thought we should share it!   Our office hit the road and went to Los Angeles to meet and tour our "custom lens fabrication" partners!   The technology was amazing and the hospitality wonderful!

Changes Happening Everywhere You Look!
We are undergoing changes all over our office.    We have added another space "down the hall" that has become the "Vision Therapy Annex!"   Dr. Kristine Cole will use this expanded space for specialized vision training.    This has led to some reorganization of our space(s) at Suite 150 and we will be expanding our optical (where you pick out your great new glasses!) and our special testing areas!
